Browns make major decision on RB Nick Chubb

Browns running back Nick Chubb has been working his way back from his season-ending knee injury in 2023.

In Week 2 of last season, the four-time Pro Bowler suffered a torn MCL and a damaged ACL to the same knee he injured in 2015 at Georgia.

That has had many questioning if Chubb would be ready for the start of the 2024 season. Now, we have an answer.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the team is expected to leave Chubb on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List, which means he will miss at least the first four games of the season.

While it's not the news fans were hoping to hear, especially after seeing a video of Chubb squatting 540-plus pounds just eight months after undergoing multiple surgeries, he is still reportedly " ahead of schedule " and set to return in 2024.

At the start of training camp, general manager Andrew Berry seemed encouraged about the seventh-year running back's progress as he worked off to the side running sprints.

"We are incredibly pleased with the work that he's put in, the progress he's made," Berry told reporters . "He still has a little ways to go, but we're really happy to see where he is as we enter camp and look forward to him [continuing] to improve the health of the knee."

However, it looks like Chubb has a little more ways to go until he makes his return to the field.

Chubb has come back from a similar injury before and went on to become one of the best running backs in the NFL, with four straight 1,000-rushing-yard seasons (2019-22).

It may be a bit more difficult for the 28-year-old to return as the same player this time around, but if anyone can do it, it's Chubb.

In the meantime, running backs Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman, who rushed for a combined 1,238 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023, will lead Cleveland's backfield.
