Georgia Tech lands another big commitment with four-star DL

Georgia Tech and head coach Brent Key are on a roll.

Last week, the Yellow Jackets landed a commitment from the first five-star recruit in program history, offensive lineman, Josh Petty.

Saturday, in the first college football game of the season, GT beat No. 10 Florida State on a last season field goal, 24-21.

Now, it's being reported that Key and his staff have picked up another major recruiting win. Christian Garrett, a four-star defensive lineman and former Georgia Bulldogs' recruit from Bogart, Georgia, is staying in-state to play for the Yellow Jackets.

“At Georgia Tech, I just felt good. I had a feeling that Georgia Tech was home earlier this summer,” he told On3 regarding his commitment. “After I committed to Georgia, it didn’t set in my heart. It was hard to rest. My heart led me to Georgia Tech"

"It not just football. Georgia Tech building a great program, and I want to be a part of that. But the academics are important too," Garrett continued. "Coach Key is a great guy, and he made really good impressions on me and the family.”

Georgia Tech has a ton of momentum and Key is potentially building something special. The win over FSU was in front of all to see because it was the "only show in town" at the time, and now GT's momentum should continue carrying over on the recruiting trail.

Garrett is a solid pickup by the rankings. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's the No. 18 defensive lineman in the 2025 class. Speaking of, coach Key's 2025 class is now ranked top 20 in the nation.
