    Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore.

Sherrone Moore will coach his first game as the official leader of the Michigan Wolverines' football program this coming Saturday against the Fresno State Bulldogs, who finished 9-4 last season, 4-4 in the Mountain West Conference.

For Moore, the game will be his first chance to prove his mettle as full-time head coach of the Wolverines' program after a successful stint filling in for Jim Harbaugh as Michigan's coach down the stretch of last year's regular season.

Ahead of his first season at the helm, Moore had a lengthy discussion with Lloyd Carr, who led the Wolverines to the 1997 national title.

"I got an opportunity to sit down with Lloyd Carr for a long time in my office," Moore said, via Brad Galli . "To talk about a guy that's a Michigan legend, that's done so much for this program, and just ask him some things and what he thinks I should do and how I should handle it.

"Hearing stuff from him and hearing his conviction of me being here was just the cementing stamp of, like, okay yeah I can do this, and continue to do it the right way, the Michigan way."

Moore coached four games during the Wolverines' 2023-24 national championship season, all of them victories for the maize and blue.

He played two seasons as an offensive guard for the University of Oklahoma under legendary head coach Bob Stoops during his playing career, winning two Big 12 Championships.

Moore served as the Wolverines' tight ends coach from 2018-20 prior to serving three years as the team's offensive line coach from 2021-23. He was also Michigan's offensive coordinator last season, a position now held by ex-quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell.
