Newest detail surrounding Deion Sanders' beef with reporter doesn't make him look better

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders.

A new detail emerged surrounding Deion Sanders and his petty beef with Sean Keeler, a reporter for The Denver Post. However, it doesn't cast the Colorado head coach in a better light.

Weeks after engaging in a nasty back-and-forth with Keeler, Sanders reportedly explained his actions during a meeting with Mark Jones of ESPN, the commentator for Thursday's tight 31-26 season-opening victory over North Dakota State.

"Coach Prime told us that he felt the reporter in question questioned and attacked his faith," Jones said during the broadcast via Awful Announcing . "And subsequently went over the line, and thus his actions as a result — that's what he told us."

While meeting with reporters on Aug. 9, Sanders blew up at Eric Christensen of CBS Sports Denver and Keeler, refusing to answer their question over a perceived vendetta they had against the program. Two weeks later, Colorado informed Keeler of an indefinite ban from speaking with Sanders or the rest of the team for "a series of sustained, personal attacks."

It's a noticeable and curious change in tone, as initially, it sounded like the issues stemmed from Keeler's criticisms toward Sanders concerning his performance as Colorado's head coach. But that somehow shifted to those attacks being on his beliefs, which there doesn't seem to be evidence of unless "false prophet" qualifies.

Most of Keeler's quips to describe Sanders are immature and uncreative. But the fact is, Colorado hasn't lived up to the hype manufactured by the Pro Football Hall of Famer, so feeling a little heat is to be expected.

Sanders' confrontation with Keeler and others made him look like a petulant child who lacked accountability and thought he'd earn praise without results. However, the latest tidbit regarding the situation shows he hasn't changed his tune, even after weeks of reflection.
