The New York Football Giants are entering their 100th season as a franchise, and to help celebrate the occasion, the team unveiled a vintage logo painted at midfield for the season-opener Sept. 8 against Minnesota.

The logo originates from the franchise's 1950-60 era, featuring a gigantic player throwing a football over the New York City skyline.

Sideline walls are also covered with new banners highlighting the team's eight world championships, including four Super Bowl titles.

New York will wear "Century Red" uniforms against Minnesota, designed to honor the jerseys and helmets worn during the 1925-38 seasons.

All of New York's uniforms will feature a 100th-season commemorative patch, incorporating aspects of previous logos and iconography from the franchise's history.

Upon release, the "Century Red" uniforms received a mixed reception from fans, with SB Nation's James Dator ranking them among the worst throwback jerseys ever.

Perhaps the Giants will break the typical "look good, play good" stereotype when they take the field in them this season. Maybe the retro decoration of MetLife Stadium will distract enough from the anticipated poor on-field efforts.
