Eric Bischoff questions Kazuchika Okada's opening months in AEW

Kazuchika Okada joined AEW in March, having earned legendary status in New Japan Pro Wrestling. When put in a position to thrive, Okada is one of the most talented wrestlers in the world and has the potential to be the face of a major brand. Yet, since arriving in AEW, Okada has been severely limited, with most of his television time coming via promotional segments where he plays a marginalized role.

During a recent episode of the "83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff" podcast, Bischoff questions Okada's status as one of the best wrestlers in the world. The Hall of Famer noted that AEW hadn't allowed him to showcase his skills since joining the company.

"I've yet to see this 'best wrestler in the world.' I don't get it," Bischoff said. "So far he is a letdown. I like his look, I can see the wheels turning in his head as a character sometimes, and I think there's something there bursting to get out. I don't know what it is, but the stuff that I see in the ring is like, 'Huh? You're paid how much? Really?'"

According to Forbes, Okada's contract with AEW is estimated to be worth $4.5M per year, making him one of the highest-paid wrestlers within the company and the wider industry. Considering how little AEW has used him in-ring, it's fair to question why such a hefty salary was negotiated.

It's also fair to wonder why Tony Khan added Okada to the Casino Gauntlet match at All-In when Okada is a proven stadium performer and could have added significant value in a singles match.

Bischoff is known for criticizing AEW . However, in this instance, his criticism is fair and raises a concern a segment of the company's fanbase has been discussing for months. If Okada is truly a top talent in the world, AEW needs to put him on display; otherwise, his contract will be nothing more than money down the drain.
