It was a wild Week 1 in college football, filled with some expected blowouts and unexpected nail-biters. Now the schedule moves right along into Week 2, but not before taking in some valuable lessons that could help when placing bets on the upcoming games.

Here's what we learned from Week 1.

    Buffs gonna buff

In a weekend full of blowouts and shutouts, Colorado kept things too close for comfort and narrowly beat North Dakota State 31-26 while failing to cover the 10.5-point spread . The Bison outscored the Buffs 10-3 in the second quarter of that game, revealing that Coach Prime's team still has some growing to do despite having national hype -- and Terrell Owens on the sidelines . Colorado is now the seven-point underdog at DraftKings on the road in Week 2 against Nebraska, who upended UTEP 40-7 in their season-opener.

    Does Michigan still have it?

The post-championship era has begun for the Wolverines, who went into Week 1 with no J.J. McCarthy under center, no Blake Corum jetting out of the backfield and no khaki-clad Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines. Michigan had the upper hand, however, playing to a 30-10 home win against the unranked Fresno State Bulldogs. They have the advantage of playing at home yet again in Week 2. However, they are taking on a Texas side high off of a 52-0 win against Colorado State. The Longhorns are also 6.5-point favorites at DK to win at Ann Arbor.

    Welcome to the (SEC) party

Week 1 was a big test for Texas A&M, who entered Saturday's home game as three-point favorites before losing 23-13 to visiting Notre Dame. Perhaps it wasn't too big of a surprise, since the Fighting Irish covered the spread in nine games last season. Still, this was certainly an eye-opener for the Aggies in their first showing as a member of the SEC. They will have to take advantage of a Week 2 home game against McNeese State, because the real test start in Week 3 when they travel to Florida to face the Gators.

What to watch for in Week 2

    Home Sweet Home?

As we mentioned ahead of Week 1 , travel is going to be an ongoing topic this season because of the conference changes. While road teams seemed to do well in Week 0, the vast majority of home teams in Week 1 ended up in the win column with the exception of the Aggies. Week 2 features more games against in-state rivals, but you may want to think twice before you wager on USC or LSU since they played in Vegas last weekend — especially the Tigers, who had to jump time zones. That goes double for the Cal Bears, who won at home in Week 1 but now travel to Auburn in Week 2.

    Must-watch of the week?

A lot of eyes will be on that Michigan-Texas game, but Sports Illustrated also notes that Tennessee vs. NC State could be must-see TV because it gives "a look at two offenses debuting new quarterbacks after Grayson McCall transferred to the Wolfpack, and Nico Iamaleava takes over at QB1 for the Vols." The Volunteers are 7.5-point favorites to win on the road, and the over-under for points in that one is 59.5.
