    Scottie Scheffler.

Scottie Scheffler's peers were nothing short of complimentary on Sunday when the Texan won the Tour Championship to cap off a phenomenal season.  Although the greatest compliment he received was probably from the event's runner-up, Collin Morikawa.

Morikawa battled hard all weekend to get a leg up on Scheffler before finishing 26-under par for second place at East Lake Golf Course. Afterward, Morikawa praised how the victor — and his friend — handles himself under pressure.

"Just nothing fazes him," Morikawa said, via CBS Sports . "Whether I was close in gaining some ground or he was gaining ground, it didn't change how he walked or how he played or how he went through every shot. That's something to learn. I think his mental game is a lot stronger than a lot of people know."

It was a whirlwind of a season for Scheffler. While he maintained his dominance on the links for the majority of the season, outside noise stemming from an incident outside of the PGA Championship tried to creep in. Coming out on top despite the distraction make Morikawa's compliment even more sound.

"I feel like he just sort of brings the same demeanor to the course every single day no matter what position on the leaderboard he's in," added Rory McIlroy, who finished T9 at the Tour Championship. "He's just amazing to just watch the way he manages himself around the golf course. Yeah, we'll look back on 2024, and it's obviously one of the best individual years that a player has had for a long time."

Scheffler, 28, compiled seven wins and 16 top-10 finishes in 2024 including the second Masters title of his career. He also brought home the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which the Official World Golf Ranking counts in his standing but not toward the PGA Tour.
