    Carmelo Anthony.

Hall of Fame coach George Karl took to social media on Thursday to try to finally end his longstanding feud with retired forward Carmelo Anthony.

The 10-time All-Star was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the third overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and was the Rookie of the Year runner-up to LeBron James.

Karl was hired to be the Nuggets leader during the middle of the 2004-2005 campaign and was Anthony's head coach for the next six-plus seasons. The pair helped lead the franchise to six consecutive playoff berths from 2005-2010, though that included four straight first-round exits and five eliminations in the opening set during the stretch.

Denver's only time making it out of the initial round of the tournament during Karl's eight seasons with the club came in 2009 when it made it to the Western Conference Finals before falling to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The former Syracuse star was sent to the New York Knicks as part of a massive three-team blockbuster trade in February 2011 that also included Hall of Fame guard Chauncey Billups, Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton and others.

Anthony revealed on his "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast in February what he believes started the yearslong contentious relationship with his former coach.

The future Hall of Famer described one of the first interactions he had with Karl in January 2005 after the latter was hired. Anthony was in the midst of his second season at this point and had led the Nuggets to the postseason the prior year.

"After shootaround, he (Karl) called me to his room and was like, 'Hey, I think you're overrated. You have a lot of work to do,'" Anthony said on the podcast .

Following Melo's story, the 73-year-old former San Antonio Spurs point guard responded on X , writing, "Hey @carmeloanthony, let's not do this. You're telling stories that are 20 years old. Let's move forward. And you were overrated and wish your game was as efficient as Detlef's (Schrempf)."

Both Anthony and Karl have storied legacies in Denver and have cemented their place in NBA history. Now, perhaps, they can finally forget about any past bad blood and officially make up.
