The Kansas Jayhawks football team will be playing zero home games during the 2024 season.

OK, that's a bit of an overstatement, but here's an explanation: David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, the long-time home of Jayhawks football, is getting a $448 million renovation during this season.

According to the university , the team will instead play its "home" games at two different venues an hour's drive from Lawrence, Kansas — the city in which the school is located — in neighboring Missouri.

Two non-conference games have also been scheduled be played at Children's Mercy Park, home of MLS team Sporting Kansas City, with four Big 12 matchups to be held in GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs.

The team posted a video on X of the field-level view at Children's Mercy Park on Aug. 29 for Kansas' season-opener against Lindenwood.

Jayhawks fans certainly made the effort as the official attendance was recorded at over 20,000 . The stadium's official capacity for soccer matches is listed at just under 18,500 people .

Following this Saturday's Week 2 road date with Illinois, the team will return to the soccer stadium to host UNLV on Sept. 14. Big 12 play will then begin and Kansas will transition to the nearly 77,000 seat Arrowhead Stadium.

The Jayhawks will host TCU (Sept. 28), Houston, (Oct. 19), Iowa State (Nov. 9) and Colorado (Nov. 23) on the home field of superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
