MLB strikeout props for Thu. 9/5:

    By Jack Dougherty,

    2024-09-05

Boom! We brought out the brooms on Wednesday night for a 3-0 sweep in strikeout props , bringing our record to 7-2 in our last nine picks. Let's stay hot with three more K props for Thursday's MLB slate.

Bryan Woo under 5.5 Ks (+100 FanDuel )

Mariners at Athletics, 3:37 p.m. ET

Woo has an impressive 29.8 percent strikeout rate against current Oakland Athletics hitters, but that number is a bit skewed by his two starts against them last season. The right-hander was a much more effective strikeout artist in 2023. His strikeouts per nine are down from 9.5 last year to 6.8 this year, and his whiff rate has dipped from 28.1 percent to 20.7 percent. Oakland is swinging the bat well against righties of late, so this isn't as easy of a matchup as it seems.

Merrill Kelly under 5.5 Ks (-128 FD )

Diamondbacks at Giants, 3:45 p.m ET

The San Francisco Giants seem to be striking out in every other at-bat lately, but this line is still too high. Since returning to the rotation last month, Kelly has a tiny 12.2 percent strikeout rate in five starts. He's also struggled to punch out this lineup in the past, as current Giants hitters have a 13.4 percent K rate against Kelly in 112 combined plate appearances.

Adam Oller over 4.5 Ks (+128 FD )

Phillies at Marlins, 6:40 p.m. ET

Oller has been lights out for the Miami Marlins over his last two starts, giving up just one earned run and striking out 14 batters in 11.2 innings of work. The Philadelphia Phillies aren't an easy matchup, but they've been struggling against right-handed pitching with a 25.2 percent strikeout rate over the last 10 days. That's the seventh-worst mark in MLB over that span. This price is too good to pass up considering Oller's stellar recent form.
