The new NBA season is right around the corner. To help get ready for the 2024-25 campaign, we're looking at three questions each NBA team could face next season.

Here, we have the Orlando Magic, who were one of the surprise packages of the 2023-24 season.

Can Franz Wagner fix his perimeter jump shot?

Wagner is one of the top two talents on the Magic's roster. He's a diverse forward with all the skills to become an All-Star. However, he's consistently struggled when shooting from the perimeter, with last season being the worst of his career courtesy of a paltry 28.1% conversion rate on 4.6 attempts per game.

Orlando needs Wagner to improve from downtown. If he can become a 35-37% three-point threat, it will unlock the rest of his offensive skillset and provide additional spacing to the Magic's offense. If he continues to struggle, teams will help off of him, allowing them to send additional bodies at Paolo Banchero.

Germany also dealt with Wagner's shooting issues during the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer. As one of the most promising young talents in the world, Wagner's three-point shooting will be the focus of many in the coming months.

Will Kentavious Caldwell-Pope elevate the roster?

Caldwell-Pope has won two championships in the last four years. His first came with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, and his second with the Nuggets in 2023. There's a reason why the Magic securing his signature this summer was seen as a steal . Orlando will undoubtedly be hoping that his three-and-D skillset and championship experience can help elevate its roster to a new level.

Orlando has added a veteran guard who has averaged north of 40% from deep for three of the last four seasons. He is also a positionally versatile defender who will ensure Jamahl Mosley has options when building out his substitution patterns for the new season.

Caldwell-Pope could be a catalyst for the Magic's overall growth in the coming years. It will be interesting to see how much of an impact he makes and where that impact is most prevalent.

Can Paolo Banchero improve his efficiency?

Banchero is a future All-NBA talent . He's everything you want in a modern-day forward and has already proven himself to be an elite scorer, rebounder and budding defender. However, his inefficient offense has hindered Orlando's offense, as it continues to force-feed him, hoping he can develop on the fly.

For reference, Banchero is shooting 48.3% from two-point range, 32.1% from three-point range and 73.1% from the free-throw line. Those numbers must improve across the board for a player who is cited as being a franchise cornerstone. Banchero needs to lean into his deep skillset rather than relying on his size and physicality in the lane.

Still, if Banchero takes the coveted "third-year jump," Orlando could emerge as a genuine postseason threat. It has been working towards that outcome in recent years and is now waiting for its young stars to prove they're ready for the challenge.
