    Safety Terrell Edmunds.

On Tuesday, the Steelers brought back a familiar face in safety Terrell Edmunds, their first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

It was a reunion that not many saw coming given his departure from Pittsburgh following the 2022 season, but it is one that he is more than happy to have.

"Man, it felt crazy seeing everyone when I walked in. It's just love. There's been love here ever since I left," Edmunds said . "Now, coming back and actually playing on the field with them again, it feels good."

Edmunds is joining a very crowded safety room that already includes Minkah Fitzpatrick, DeShon Elliott, Damontae Kazee, Jalen Elliott and Miles Killebrew. So his impact on defense may not be immediate.

However, he knows that and is willing to do whatever he can to help the team in the meantime.

"Wherever they need me," Edmunds added . "If it's defense, special teams to start, however they want me to do it, I'm just being willing to go out there and put everything on the line for my teammates."

Edmunds spent the first five years of his NFL career with the Steelers and was productive, registering 410 tackles, five sacks, one fumble recovery, five interceptions and 26 passes defensed.

His previous experience in Pittsburgh's defensive system will help, but he still believes there will be an adjustment period in his return.

"There's still an adjustment period, always," he continued . "But I'm feeling comfortable with the system, feeling comfortable with my teammates, just coming out here, just tryna give them everything I got."

Since Edmunds left the Steelers, he's spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles (2023), Tennessee Titans (2023) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2024).

It wasn't an easy past year and a half for the 27-year-old, but he learned a lot and is bringing an improved version of himself back to the Steel City.

"Just a never quit mentality because last year was a long year, just going to one team and then being traded," Edmunds concluded . "I was already here for five years, and then going to Jacksonville and getting cut, it was a long year."
