Watch: 49ers' George Kittle wears Brock Purdy's college helmet after losing bet

There's nothing quite like fun side bets between professional athletes — especially when it's time to pay the piper.

Such was the case for San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle on Wednesday as he rocked an Iowa State helmet during his post practice media scrum on Wednesday.

Avid football fans and 49er faithful all know that Kittle was an Iowa Hawkeye, while starting quarterback Brock Purdy attended Iowa State. Since the Cyclones won last weekend's in-state rivalry game, 20-19, Kittle had to wear Purdy's college helmet.

Saturday's college showdown knocked Iowa, who started the season at No. 25, out of the AP college football ranking . Iowa State currently sits at No. 21.

Kittle wasn't short on smiles, though, since he, Purdy and the rest of the Niners started their 2024 season off with a convincing 32-19 victory against the New York Jets.

The 49ers hit the road in Week 2 to face the Minnesota Vikings.
