    Greg McElroy.

The Texas Longhorns are obviously riding high off of their win over the reigning national champion Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

Texas was clearly lightyears better than Michigan in the 31-12 victory. And yes, that may say more about the Wolverines than the Longhorns, but it was no doubt a dominant win and it turned some heads.

We thought Texas could be a could be a national championship contender heading into the season and so far, the Longhorns look the part.

So much so that ESPN analyst Greg McElroy, a former Alabama quarterback, believes Steve Sarkisian's crew is on par with what Kirby Smart is doing at Georgia.

“Texas has officially joined Georgia as one of the most complete teams in the sport,” McElroy said on "Always College Football" when discussing the Longhorns (h/t On3 ). “They look like a complete team, fast, physical, well coached, excellent in situations that would kind of showcase just how well coached they are. Poised, physical, I mean, you name it. If there is a positive attribute to apply to a team from this past weekend, Texas should likely get it.”

That's a big statement as a former national champion quarterback. And speaking of championships, comparing any school to prime UGA is a big deal. The Bulldogs weren't in the CFP last season but they had won the past two straight.

Outside of Nick Saban's Alabama and Dabo Swinney's excellent run at Clemson, there hasn't been another team as dominant as Georgia in recent memory, so drawing that comp is a big deal.

"If you think this Texas team can’t win the whole thing, I think you’re crazy," McElroy said.
