    Landry Shamet.

The New York Knicks have enjoyed a productive summer as they've moved to strengthen their roster ahead of the new season. The addition of Mikal Bridges built on the arrival of OG Anunoby last season, providing Tom Thibodeau with a diverse roster capable of competing on both sides of the floor.

On Saturday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that New York had chosen to fill their 15th roster spot, officially rounding out their rotation ahead of the new NBA season. Sharpshooter Landry Shamet will reportedly be joining the franchise for the upcoming campaign, providing additional floor spacing and spot-up shooting off the bench.

Shamet spent last season with the Washington Wizards, playing 46 games and averaging 7.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest. However, he struggled from the perimeter, hitting just 33.8% of his 3.4 three-point attempts. As such, the Knicks will be hoping that their depth and high-level talent can make Shamet's life easier, and he can get back to his career average of 38.4% from deep.

Following Shamet's addition, Thibodeau will have multiple new faces to work with as the Knicks prepare to challenge for a championship next season. New York's starting five can go toe-to-toe with juggernauts like the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks. If Thibodeau's team can remain healthy , they will be a legitimate threat in the East.

Despite his addition to the roster, Shamet is unlikely to become a core part of Thibodeau's rotation. Instead, he will be further down the pecking order and relied on to hit his shots when provided with playing time. Part of the reason Shamet may not see the court as much is due to his limited upside on defense, which is a prerequisite to being a prominent part of a Thibodeau team.

Nevertheless, the Knicks have added a talented veteran with a specialist skill set. If he can hit some big shots throughout the season (and potentially the playoffs), the Knicks' decision to bring him to New York will be justified.
