South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer.

"Beamer Ball" is alive and well in Columbia, South Carolina.

No. 16 LSU is officially on upset watch after the unranked Gamecocks unleashed 17 unanswered points in the first half Saturday.

The early offensive explosion gives Tigers head coach Brian Kelly some serious reevaluating to do in the halftime team talk. Especially after South Carolina's special teams got to his punter.

In the second quarter, Gamecocks defender Maurice Brown jumped over three blockers to get a hand on the ball as it came off the LSU punter's foot.

Brown, who earned a scholarship earlier this week, logged the program's 11th blocked punt under head coach Shane Beamer since 2021, the most in the FBS in that span.

The impressive special teams effort led to South Carolina's second touchdown of the game and put the Gamecocks up 17-0 over LSU.

After quick answers by LSU to tighten things to 17-10, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers put LSU back on its heels with a one play, 75-yard touchdown drive before halftime.

The Tigers are in danger of seeing their 2024 College Football Playoff dreams go up in feathers if they can't find a way to overcome the Gamecocks.

Kelly could also find himself officially on the coaching hot seat upon returning to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with a disappointing 1-2 record.

South Carolina leads 24-16 at halftime, looking for the program's first 3-0 start since 2012 .
