Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers.

The Baltimore Ravens began the 2024 season with heavy hearts after the death of former teammate Jacoby Jones, who passed away in July due to hypertensive cardiovascular disease just days after his 40th birthday.

So when second-year wide receiver Zay Flowers scored his first touchdown of the season in Sunday’s home matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, he knew the perfect way to pay tribute to the former Super Bowl champion.

After hauling in an 8-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson, Flowers busted out one of the many infamous touchdown dances that Jones was known for.

Jones also set several NFL records as well, including the longest kickoff return in a Super Bowl (108 yards), the longest play in a Super Bowl (108 yards), most all-purpose yards in a Super Bowl (288) and most career kick return touchdowns of 105 yards or more (four).

Flowers had seven receptions, 91 yards and a touchdown at the time of publication. His third quarter was the first touchdown of the game for either team after they traded field goals for the first five scores.

Flowers is also the first Ravens player not named Isaiah Likely to catch a touchdown this season.

Jones played for the Ravens from 2012 to 2014. He made his only Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro selection during his first year with the team as a special teams player.

He set multiple Ravens franchise records, including the most career kickoff returns for a touchdown (four), the most single-season kickoff return touchdowns (two) and the longest kickoff return touchdown (108 yards).
