New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.

New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt has only been targeted once with no catches after two weeks this season. That's a far cry from what fans expected from the 2023 third-round pick — especially a player the team traded up for, too.

But despite reports of Hyatt desiring a trade over the offseason if his usage was minimal in New York, the second-year receiver is optimistic he'll have his breakout soon.

"I am disappointed about it," he told ESPN Friday. "But at the end of the day, I'm just going to keep getting better, and my chance will come, and when it comes, I will be ready."

Hyatt was drafted out of Tennessee last year and tallied 373 yards but no touchdowns during his rookie season. His career high is a 109-yard game logged in a 10-7 win over New England.

The 22-year-old addressed the trade rumors as "a fake story" and told reporters it felt like "a hit job."

Head coach Brian Daboll concurred, saying at a news conference on Friday that Hyatt "never told me that."

"Jalin is probably one of the closer guys I am with on this team," he continued. "He has a role, and when his number is called, he'll be ready to go."

New York has only tallied 341 net passing yards in 2024, amounting to just 24 points over two games, so Hyatt's not alone in his offensive struggles.

New York faces a Cleveland defense in Week 3 that was tough to play against in 2023. This year, however, the Browns have allowed an average of 314 yards per game on 115 plays.

Perhaps Hyatt can find his breakout game on Sunday, with rookie Malik Nabers sure to draw significant attention after posting 127 yards and his first career touchdown against Washington in Week 2.
