    Boxer Mike Tyson.

Mike Tyson is not interested in a potential super fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, arguably the two best boxers of their generation.

In a recent interview with the "Come and Talk 2 Me" podcast , Tyson explained why a potential bout between Alvarez and Crawford doesn't bode well for either fighter, specifically for the latter.

"I don't like that fight," Tyson said. "It's too much weight [difference]. And Terrence had a close fight with the last guy he fought [Israil Madrimov] because this guy was big and awkward. He shouldn't have fought that guy in the first place. It's a missing art in boxing now where people matchmaking don't know how to make matches."

Crawford currently operates at super-welterweight, two weight classes below Alvarez, the reigning WBA and WBC super-middleweight champion. For his bout against Madrimov in August, the Omaha native bulked up to 154 pounds after operating in the 130-140 range for most of his career. While he won via unanimous decision , Crawford didn't resemble the dominant fighter fans have been accustomed to.

To that end, Tyson argued that the potential fight also doesn't make sense for the bigger Alvarez, who'd be discredited for beating a lighter opponent fighting out of his weight class.

"It's a lose-lose situation for Alvarez," the podcast's host argued, which Tyson agreed with.

The potential Alvarez-Crawford fight has been rumored for years but picked up steam after Alvarez dominated Edgar Berlanga at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. After the bout, Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh and Crawford called out Alvarez while seated ringside.

"Let's go! Canelo, come on. We are ready," Alalshikh said.

"You heard it from him. Just put me in the game [expletive]," Crawford added.

It remains to be seen if Alvarez accepts Crawford's challenge.

In the meantime, Crawford, the reigning WBA super-welterweight champion, has been ordered to face WBO and WBC world champion Sebastian Fundora in a title unification clash . The fight could pose a major hurdle for Crawford, who stands nearly nine inches shorter than Fundora.
