New York Yankees center fielder Aaron Judge.

New York Yankees rookie Jasson Dominguez made yet another bad play in the outfield on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles. The 22-year-old let what should have been a sacrifice fly in the first inning drop, allowing the Orioles to score the first two runs of their 9-7 victory over New York. Yankees captain Aaron Judge was asked about Dominguez’ sloppy play after the game, and he held the youngster accountable.

“Yeah, it’s a tough one going to the line like that,” Judge said, per YES Network . “Ball came back on him, tough situation. I know he knows he should’ve made that play, but got to learn from it, be better, and get them tomorrow.”

Dominguez didn’t get an error on the play.

Dominguez has been awful in the outfield since his late-season call-up. He’s made bad reads and even dropped a routine fly ball in Seattle.

Yankees fans may feel let down by Dominguez, as they were begging for him to replace struggling left fielder Alex Verdugo long before the Bombers obliged. However, if they were paying attention, the New York faithful could have predicted Dominguez’ defensive woes.

The Martian made six errors in 58 games in the minor leagues this year, bringing his career MiLB total to 18. He even made an error when he played center field in the 2022 MLB All-Star Futures Game.

But Dominguez is young — he can improve. And he’s the least of the Yankees’ problems right now, as they struggle to clinch the AL East. Dominguez’ miscues wouldn’t stand out so much if the rest of the team could take care of business.
