Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.

NFL fans, per usual, will be tuning in to watch quarterback Patrick Mahomes lead the defending back-to-back Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Mahomes and company will travel to Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles to face new head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers.

But aside from the players duking it out on the gridiron, the matchup on the sidelines will be making NFL history.

CBS Sports reports that for the first time ever, the reigning college football national champion and Super Bowl champion head coaches will face off .

In 2023, Harbaugh coached the Michigan Wolverines to an undefeated season, a Rose Bowl victory over Alabama in the College Football Playoff and a dominating performance over Washington in the national championship game.

Kansas City head coach Andy Reid led the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl victories in 2022 and 2023, the first time a team has done that since the 2003-04 New England Patriots.

Sunday will be a test of coaching styles, but Harbaugh could be at a severe disadvantage compared to Reid.

Los Angeles starting quarterback Justin Herbert is dealing with a re-injured ankle and was limited at practice this week, per the team's injury report . The team could also be without star linebacker Joey Bosa and rookie tackle Joe Alt, who both have not practiced yet.

Kansas City (3-0) and Los Angeles (2-1) will kick off their divisional matchup at 4:25 p.m. ET on CBS.
