Mississippi Rebels running back Matt Jones.

They say cheaters never prosper. Well, so far, that saying is keeping true with No. 6 Ole Miss trailing SEC foe Kentucky 10-7 at halftime.

OK, "cheating" may be a strong term, but the Rebels certainly seemed to get up to some shady behavior during the first half.

ABC's broadcast caught Ole Miss quarterback Jaxon Dart appearing to signal to his running back Matt Jones to hit the turf with an apparent injury. Jones then dropped to the ground, grabbing his leg.

At the time, it appeared Dart and Jones were running out of time on the play clock and the next play hadn't been called in fully — thus, they needed an injury timeout.

ABC's Sean McDonough, who was calling the game, could be heard on the broadcast calling Jones out.

"Fortunately, Matt Jones survived to walk off the field," he said sarcastically. "Just a blatant fake injury."

Ole Miss entered Saturday's SEC opener undefeated and having totaled 220 points over the first four weeks (albeit against inferior opponents).

However, Dart and Co. are struggling to get much done on offense, with the senior passer only logging 97 yards on seven completions so far — a far cry from the trend he set to start the season.

Ironically, the guilty party of the fake injury, Jones, did not touch the ball in the first half. Nevertheless, he made his presence felt, even if only by going viral on the internet.
