Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

The Green Bay Packers made the "difficult decision" to suspend wide receiver Romeo Doubs for Sunday's Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

In a statement announcing the move on the Packers' website Saturday, general manager Brian Gutekunst said the team was "disappointed" it had to resort to the serious action.

"Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to suspend Romeo for this week's game," Gutekunst said. "His decisions and actions during the week negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action. While we are certainly disappointed, we are confident that we will be able to move forward in a positive manner. Romeo is a valuable member of our team and we look forward to welcoming him back next week."

Gutekunst's did not mention what specific infractions warranted Doubs' suspension, but reports emerged earlier in the week that the third-year receiver skipped multiple practices, frustrated with his lack of involvement in Green Bay's offense.

Doubs had a breakout season in 2023 , logging 674 yards and eight touchdowns. He's been targeted 20 times for 169 yards in four games so far this year — that's good for second on the team.

Granted, starting quarterback Jordan Love was out injured for two of those games — he accounts for 15 of those targets to Doubs.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed in a post on X minutes after the suspension was announced that "things have moved in a positive direction" and Doubs will return to the team next week, like Gutekunst said.

In the meantime, Love will have to utilize the rest of his receiver room against Los Angeles, one that includes Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed. The three have combined for 520 yards and six touchdowns this season.
