Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay.

The Los Angeles Rams (1-4) suffered their second straight loss and fourth of the season in Week 5, proving they are in desperate need of some reinforcements.

The Rams may have had the worst injury luck to begin the year, losing several starters, including star wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua.

Kupp has not played since Week 2 when he injured his ankle against the Arizona Cardinals, but Los Angeles never placed him on injured reserve, hoping he would miss fewer than four games.

The Pro Bowl wide receiver has missed three games thus far, and since the Rams are on their bye week in Week 6, head coach Sean McVay is hopeful he'll be back for their next game.

"The Raiders (game in Week 7) was always an optimistic target date just based on a few weeks back that we had set," McVay said , via Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic.

If that's the case, Kupp would bring a much-needed boost to Los Angeles' offense, which is averaging the ninth-fewest points per game (18.8) in the league.

Kupp made 18 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown in the first two games of the season before suffering his ankle injury.

As for Nacua, his timeline to return is a little less clear.

Nacua was placed on injured reserve after reaggravating his PCL strain. The belief is that he could be out until Week 9 depending on how his knee heals.

McVay reconfirmed that idea on Monday while not committing to any specific return date.

"What specifically in his knee was aggravated and the typical timeline that is usually accompanied with that, and really just based on his feedback and his rehab — there was always kind of a target date that they had tentatively set on when he could get back," McVay added. "We'll see if we're exactly on that."

While the status of Nacua still seems to be up in the air, Kupp looks to be on track to return after the bye for what will be a must-win game in Los Angeles.
