Jets' Aaron Rodgers looks to finally end historic, ugly streak on 'MNF' vs. Bills

Recent history had hinted that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was possibly in store for a big game in Week 5 against the Minnesota Vikings in London.

Instead, in what ended up being Robert Saleh's final outing as Gang Green's head coach, Rodgers went 29-for-54 (season-worst 53.4 completion percentage) for 244 touchdowns and three interceptions in a 23-17 loss. Rodgers' 54.9 passer rating was his lowest of the season as well.

Now, the four-time MVP enters Week 6's "Monday Night Football" home tilt against the Buffalo Bills, looking to end a near-three-year streak of sub-300-yard passing performances. According to Pro Football Talk's Michael David Smith , Rodgers' streak of games without 300 passing yards is tied for the longest in the NFL in the last decade.

The last time the 40-year-old gained at least 300 yards through the air was Dec. 12, 2021, in a 45-30 victory against the Chicago Bears. Rodgers finished the Week 14 win 29-for-37 for 341 passing yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions on his way to his most recent MVP award.

It's important to note that while it's been almost three years since the 10-time Pro Bowler reached the single-game milestone, he missed the 2023 campaign. Rodgers suffered a season-ending torn Achilles four snaps into the team's Week 1 contest last year.

Still, he's gone 28 straight games (including the playoffs) without throwing for 300 yards. Smith notes that this is the longest active streak in the league, tied with Josh Allen, Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor for the lengthiest stretch over the last decade.

Smith added that if Rodgers doesn't put up at least 300 yards through the air in primetime vs. the Bills, his streak of 29 straight games would be the longest since 2012. Per Smith's report, former first-round pick Byron Leftwich started 31 consecutive games for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2004-12 without reaching 300 yards.
