Before the Philadelphia Eagles tallied a 2-2 record heading into their Week 5 bye, multiple reports published during the summer detailed alleged problems between head coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts that could sink the club's campaign and result in Sirianni being shown the door come January.

Hurts spoke with reporters on Wednesday and revealed he and Sirianni spent parts of their break together in an attempt to fix what went wrong for the club over its two losses.

"Like any other bye week, I obviously spent some time away from the building a little bit, but also (spent time) really diving into some things and talking to my coaches and really having some great moments with Nick," Hurts explained, per Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. "This is probably one of the most efficient bye weeks I’ve been a part of in my career. I’ve been able to share some moments and talk through some things and build."

Specifically, Brookover mentioned that Sirianni and Hurts focused on what could be done to eliminate the turnover issues that have impacted the Eagles since their collapse during the second half of the 2023 season. Philadelphia began Thursday ranked 30th in the league with a minus-six turnover differential for the ongoing campaign. Hurts has committed the second-most turnovers (seven) in the NFL this season . That's concerning considering the Eagles were off when most of the league played in Week 5.

Under Sirianni, Hurts emerged as a Most Valuable Player candidate during the 2022 season and nearly guided the Eagles to a Super Bowl championship in February 2023. The hope among Philadelphia fans is that the 26-year-old can enjoy a repeat of such successes if he and his coach are on the same page this fall.

"I’m happy and fortunate that we were able to come together in harmony and have the same goal in mind in trying to get this thing right," Hurts added about the time he spent with Sirianni during the bye. "I have a ton of confidence in him, a ton of confidence in what he brings and everything he has been able to accomplish. Everybody goes through different moments and everybody experiences adversity, but we’ve experienced different levels of adversity together and I’m excited about what’s to come."

The rested Eagles will host a 1-4 Cleveland Browns side this Sunday that's a mess largely because of the play of quarterback Deshaun Watson. As of late Thursday morning, FanDuel Sportsbook listed Philadelphia as a massive 9.5-point favorite for that matchup.
