Yankees' Jazz Chisholm Jr. accuses Royals infielder of trying to injure teammate

Tensions were high during Game 4 of the ALDS between the Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees and boiled over in the bottom of the sixth inning with both benches emptying out onto the field.

Royals second baseman Michael Massey grounded into a 3-6 double play, which ended with Kansas City infielder Maikel Garcia sliding hard into second base and Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe, who was covering the bag. Volpe also appeared to apply a tag with something extra behind it and seemed to make contact with Garcia's face.

After the extracurriculars (and New York's series-clinching 3-1 win), Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. called out Garcia for allegedly trying to hurt his teammate.

Chisholm has long been one of the more outspoken players in MLB and has frequently rubbed people the wrong way .

He immediately became public enemy No. 1 when the ALDS shifted to Kansas City for Games 3 and 4 after saying that the Royals got "lucky" with their Game 2 win in the Bronx.

Garcia, for his part, made headlines following his team's lone victory in the series when he roasted New York starting pitcher Carlos Rodon on social media for what appeared to be premature celebrations following his hot start in the first inning, when he struck out the side.

While Garcia and company will stay home as their season comes to a close, Chisholm will have the chance to keep talking the talk into the ALCS, where the Yankees will face either the Cleveland Guardians or Detroit Tigers.
