Chargers' Justin Herbert praises Jim Harbaugh's toughness vs. Broncos

The Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos game got off to an unusual start with head coach Jim Harbaugh going into a medical tent on the sideline before the opening kickoff.

Harbaugh would eventually go to the locker room to receive further tests on what Harbaugh called an "atrial flutter" , causing his heart to beat faster than normal.

Harbaugh returned to the sideline after the medical staff said his heart was back in rhythm with the Chargers going on to win 23-16 over the Broncos.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert commended Harbaugh's grit and how we faced the situation.

"He's tough," Herbert said . "He did a really good job of hiding it then because I was unaware of it. They did a good job of keeping calm."

Herbert said Harbaugh seemed like his usual self the night before with what he told the team.

"He told us he was really excited for the game. He said his blood was flowing and he was excited," Herbert said. "I thought everything was good to go but that's definitely something he should get checked out. He's a tough guy, though."

Chargers defensive end Morgan Fox praised Harbaugh's toughness and his determination to get back to the game.

"Fortunately, he was back on the sideline," Fox said , per team reporter Eric Smith. "He definitely ain't missing no football."

Harbaugh said he would see a cardiologist on Monday for more evaluation and said he would trust his doctors. For now, the good news for Harbaugh is he was able to finish the game coaching and fly back from Denver with the team.

Next up for the 3-2 Chargers is a road matchup against the 2-4 Arizona Cardinals in Week 7.
