Watch: 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall returns to practice after being shot

The San Francisco 49ers got another player back on the field this week, just a little over six weeks after he had a life-threatening experience.

Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall took the field with his teammates for the first time on Monday since being shot in the chest in an attempted robbery on Aug. 31. The 49ers announced that the 24-year-old, who has been on injured reserve, was starting his 21-day practice window earlier on Monday

ABC News reported over the weekend that it still isn't clear when the rookie wideout could play in a game. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Pearsall is good "health-wise" but that he wouldn't know more until Pearsall practiced.

"We’re not going to rush it or anything," Shanahan said. "If he’s ready, he’s ready. And if he’s not, we’ve got a few weeks.”

Pearsall returned to the Niners' practice facility following a short stay in the hospital after the attempted robbery. He can practice for three weeks before San Francisco has to activate him from the non-football injury list.

In other positive 49ers news, Jordan Mason took the practice field for warm-ups on Monday in a non-contact jersey according to 49ers beat reporter Eric Branch . The running back —  who has taken on a heavy workload while Christian McCaffrey remains sidelined — is considered day-to-day with a shoulder injury he sustained in a 36-24 win against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.

The 49ers host the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.
