Jets reportedly shopping former first-round WR after acquiring Davante Adams

The New York Jets (2-4) made what seemed inevitable official on Tuesday, trading for wide receiver Davante Adams and reuniting him with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. However, with one playmaker in, another seems to be on his way out.

The odd man out looks to be wide receiver Mike Williams since the Jets already have rising star Garrett Wilson and another one of Rodgers' close friends, Allen Lazard.

According to a report by Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz, New York is planning to make Williams available for trade .

Williams signed a one-year deal with the Jets in March, but he and Rodgers haven't been on the same page this season, connecting just 10 times for 145 yards on 17 targets.

To make matters worse, during New York's 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills (4-2) on "Monday Night Football," Williams broke off his route on the play that resulted in a game-sealing interception .

Williams' disappointing play may be a product of him still not being fully healthy after tearing his ACL in Week 3 of last season, but it looks like he may have to prove he can still play elsewhere.

Where that could be remains up for debate, but the No. 7 overall pick in 2017 should have at least a few suitors, given his experience in the NFL. The 30-year-old has registered 319 catches for 4,951 yards and 31 touchdowns in his eight-year NFL career.

One team that would make a lot of sense is the wide receiver-needy Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2), who already showed interest in Williams this offseason. Williams was supposed to visit Pittsburgh in March but never made it after signing with the Jets. He may just end up being a Steeler anyway. That's unlikely to happen this week, though, as the Steelers are hosting the Jets on "Sunday Night Football."
