    Los Angeles Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez.

Los Angeles Dodgers utility player and postseason stalwart Enrique Hernandez is a fan favorite and proven clutch performer.

The 33-year-old native of Puerto Rico has played the majority of his 11-year major league career with the Dodgers. The son of a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Hernandez began playing baseball at age six.

The Houston Astros drafted Hernandez in 2009, and he was first called up to the major leagues in 2014. In his MLB career, he has played every position except catcher.

Hernandez is participating in his eighth postseason with the Dodgers. He saw action in 11 playoff games with the Red Sox in 2021 after playing a major role in the Dodgers' 2020 World Series championship. In his single postseason with the Red Sox, Hernandez's batting average was .408, and he hit five home runs, one triple and four doubles.

He rejoined the Dodgers in 2023, and although Arizona knocked Los Angeles out in that year's NLDS, Hernandez hit .375.

In 2024, he has resumed his postseason heroics, with a .333 batting average in 21 at-bats through Game 3 of the NLCS, adding two home runs and three RBI.

After Hernandez played an integral role in the Dodgers taking a 2-1 lead over the New York Mets in Game 3 of the NLCS, he was asked why he continually excels in October baseball.

"I put myself in a position since I was a little kid thinking that I was playing October baseball when the games were important for me as a kid."

The Dodgers-Mets series resumes with Game 4 on Thursday.
