    Orange Cassidy.

AEW needs a group of leaders to step up. The new-look Blackpool Combat Club continued its hostile takeover on Saturday's episode of Collision. As we're still in this storyline's early days, we're still learning who will step up to defend AEW's locker room.

Daniel Garcia appears to be among the first AEW stars to take a stand. However, he cannot do it alone. On Saturday, he pleaded with Orange Cassidy to help defend the company , noting that the former International champion has defeated each member of the new BCC before.

"It’s not about being a hero, it’s not about being a tough guy, it’s about holding each other accountable," Garcia said to Cassidy. "We’re coming to you because you’ve been there before, you beat all these guys before, and I think it’s time for you to step up."

Cassidy quickly declined Garcia's overtures. After all, it wouldn't be very good storytelling if he immediately jumped at the opportunity and positioned himself as one of AEW's defenders.

"Yeah, I have been there before, and every time I step in that ring with one of those guys, it changes me. I’m no leader," Cassidy replied. "I’m just not that guy."

Cassidy will likely find himself in a position where he has no choice but to step up and join Garcia. He's been building himself toward being a primary talent in the company for years. He has a strong record against the BCC and could do with the additional baby-face push being part of Team AEW would provide.

It will be interesting to see if AEW's creative team follows a similar build for the other potential additions to its team. Plenty of candidates fit the bill, especially those who could benefit from being a core piece to the story.

Nevertheless, Cassidy will likely be forced to join forces with Garcia and begin recruiting other talent. The most likely scenario is him getting jumped and Garcia coming to help him out.

Early signs from Jon Moxley's current angle are promising, and this could be the storyline that revamps AEW's programming and brings back some of the fanbase. To do that, Tony Khan must pick his team wisely, knowing that those will be the names he's choosing to turn into stars.

Garcia and Cassidy are a good start. Who joins next will provide a better glimpse into how successful this storyline can be.
