Native American Youth and Family Center gets $4.5 million for affordable housing
The Native American Youth and Family Center got a $4.5 million boost this week toward plans to build nearly 100 units of affordable housing on the Vancouver waterfront. The project, along with two Seattle developments, was awarded funding from a state Department of Commerce program that aims to develop affordable housing near public transit centers. In total, the agency awarded $12.6 million. Awards also went to the New Hope Community Development Institute and YMCA Seattle, both in Seattle.

Rep. Duerr receives outstanding legislator award from state association of sewer and water districts
The Washington Association of Sewer & Water Districts (WASWD) presented its annual Outstanding Legislator Award to 1st District State Rep. Davina Duerr. According to the announcement, Duerr has consistently supported and defended special purpose sewer and water districts. This includes House Bill 1621, which gives greater flexibility for districts to self-perform work, resulting in substantial cost savings to Washington state ratepayers. The bill was originally sponsored by 32nd District Rep. Cindy Ryu — who was honored by WASWD last year.

Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County Raise the Roof fundraiser Sept. 21 in Lynnwood
Habitat for Humanity of Snohomish County is hosting its annual Raise the Roof fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Lynnwood Event Center. The nonprofit’s goal is to eliminate substandard housing and end the cycle of poverty by partnering with homeowners to build, repair and preserve decent and affordable homes in local neighborhoods.
Twin Peaks Location – Twin Peaks High School Library
Despite having visited a number of Twin Peaks locations, there are certain spots that I will never visit unless a time machine is created. One of those spots is from the Pilot episode where Bobby Briggs is questioned by Sheriff Truman and Deputies Hawk and Brennan in the Twin Peaks High School library. This location no longer exists as the entire Mount Si High School was modernized with completely new buildings a few years ago. Thankfully, I found some details about this spot courtesy of the Snoqualmie Valley History Museum.
