PRETTY PRAIRIE, Kan. — Pretty Prairie and the Beutler family both have a long tradition of bringing top-notch rodeo performances to fans. 2024 marks the 87th year for Kansas Largest Night Rodeo, and the 95th year for the Beutler’s involvement in the rodeo industry. It also marks the 50th year the two entities have worked together to produce the legendary rodeo – even though there were differing variations of the Beutler business.

Altrusa Hosts 4th Annual Golf Tournament
The 4th Annual Altrusa Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, July 13. The corporate sponsor of the tournament is Mueller Waterworks/Pratt Division. Nineteen 4-person teams competed in the 18-hole scramble event. The golf tournament raised over $9,000 to go toward Altrusa projects including SOS, scholarships, literacy and various other local projects.

LAWRENCE — Kansas football’s offense in 2024 will feature a lot of players worth keeping track of. There’s redshirt junior quarterback Jalon Daniels, as well as a running back duo of senior Devin Neal and redshirt junior Daniel Hishaw Jr. There’s the wide receiver trio of seniors Luke Grimm, Lawrence Arnold and Quentin Skinner. There’s also the potential for stars to emerge along the offensive line and at tight end.

Those were the sentiments of one of the USAC Silver Crown drivers to a crew member coming out from the infield of the half-mile oval at the Kansas State Fairgrounds Friday night as they practiced for the 100-lap feature that will highlight Saturday night's program.
Computer Outage Impacts Local Services
A worldwide computer outage impacted some State of Kansas and local Saline County services on Friday. According to the State of Kansas, a software update from vendor partner CrowdStrike impacted services for Executive Branch agencies. CrowdStrike, a vendor partner, deployed an update late Thursday evening and into the early morning hours of Friday, impacting servers and computers. CrowdStrike has provided fixes, and OITS is working closely with them and the Executive Branch agencies to remediate any issues. This is a global problem, impacting many beyond Kansas.
