    Kitchen Herbs: Boost Your Weight Loss Efforts

    The quest for weight loss. Many people trying to lose weight often overlook the power of herbs that can be easily added to their meals. These herbs make food taste better but may also help with weight loss as well. Here are some common kitchen herbs that might help with weight control, which I too have started using in my every day meal prep.

    1. Parsley

    Parsley is a useful herb found in many dishes around the world. It's low in calories but rich in vitamins A, C, and K. It can help you feel full and provide you with important nutrients you may lack in your current diet. Parsley may also help reduce water retention, making you look slimmer. Ladies admit it we all want to look better and if I can just lose 10 pounds I will be jumping for joy!

    2. Basil

    Basil smells so good and may also be good for your health. It has oils that might help control blood sugar, which is important for losing weight, and something I use in most of my meals since I am really trying to keep my sugar down. Basil can also help lower stress, cortisol, and inflammation, which can affect your eating habits and frequency. I bought an organic basil plant for four dollars and planted it in my front yard now I am hoping to have a lot of basil in a few weeks.

    2. Cilantro

    Cilantro has a special taste and is commonly used in salads and salsas, which is so delicious. It may help cleanse the body of heavy metals, which can improve health and possibly help with weight loss. Heavy metals are in the foods we eat almost every day, and can cause health issues down the line. Adding a bit of cilantro to a meal won't hurt at all, and may improve your toxic heavy metal level. Haha did I just make a rhyme?


    4. Mint

    Mint is refreshing and helps with digestion. Good digestion is important for managing weight because it helps the body absorb nutrients well and reduces bloating. Now don't just go on a mint craze! We have to keep with the program here. I know mint ice cream sounds like a great digestive addition, but just remember the sugar and fat. You can make your own mint ice cream with heavy cream, a sugar substitute, mint leaves, and add just a pinch or 2 of organic cocoa powder.


    5. Oregano

    Oregano has antioxidants and may fight germs. It can boost metabolism, which helps with weight loss. It's antibiotic properties may work well in the kitchen as a disinfectant, and is also a great antibiotic that I keep refrigerated in for colds or sickness.


    Adding these herbs to your cooking can make healthy meals tastier. No one herb will cause weight loss on its own, but they can help you eat better and why not add them, they just may work.
