CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The chance of rain will increase this week as we settle into a typical summertime pattern with hot and humid temperatures and daily chances for storms. Downpours will begin to develop this morning as temperatures begin to climb and the heat index begins to exceed 100°. Scattered showers and storms should peak in coverage late this morning and into the afternoon. Highs will top out in the low 90s this afternoon.
The week ahead: Hot, steamy, but better storm chances
A surface trough and the seabreeze keeps shower and thunderstorm chances in the forecast each afternoon for much of the upcoming week. We’ll stay on the steamy side, though, with temperatures generally in the low to mid-90s each afternoon and lows in the upper 70s inland to low 80s near the coast, where additional record high minimum temperature records could be broken this week.
