I remember the 48 star flag and I remember governor Reagan telling us the story of old Glory being held up by the dead bodies of patriots. I was very young and remember tears rolling down my cheeks. I miss that 48 star flag and I respect our flag. God bless America.

I remember the 1st time I heard this account of Old Glory being held up by the dead bodies of patriots and how tears rolled freely down my cheeks as I listened to Ronald Reagan telling the story why the American flag is never allowed to touch the ground. With visions of yankee soldiers falling but holding up the colors lest they fall and being caught by another brave yankee before hitting the ground. I grew up in a neighborhood full of combat veterans that were serious about teaching us to respect that 48 star flag. And we still do. My children do. And their children do as well.
