Puppies play with nursing home residents

Pet Adoptions of Cuero made a short road trip to Yoakum this past week. The Yoakum Nursing and Rehabilitation Center invited the PAOC team to come by with some of their small pets for an afternoon of activity and “furry” enjoyment for the seniors.

More than 50 residents and staff welcomed Nelda Huber and Linda Anzaldua with open arms to cuddle and pet the three pups they brought along – BONBON, CLYDE and MIRANDA. The pups got lots of attention and love, but the real reward was seeing the joy and smiles from the residents who all shared heartwarming stories of pets they owned in the past. Activity Director Rebecca Garibay created a special edible pet treat in anticipation of the pups visit and had the group whip them up last week.

Pet Adoptions of Cuero is so glad there are opportunities like this to interact with the local communities. Pets really do have a special connection to seniors and it was so evident during this visit.
