Cal Fire bans fireworks in certain areas ahead of 4th of July. Here’s where
CALIFORNIA, USA — Extreme fire weather conditions have led Cal Fire to ban fireworks in its jurisdiction in Colusa, Lake, Napa, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo counties. Around 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit (Cal Fire LNU) said elevated fire weather conditions from Tuesday, July 2, to Saturday, July 6, created by the combination of extreme heat, low humidity and gusty winds, led authorities to ban fireworks.
Yolo County Landfill Observes Independence Day
As residents across Yolo County prepare to celebrate Independence Day, the Yolo County Department of Community Services’ Integrated Waste Management Division intends to support them in reducing waste during their festivities. Unlike many public servants, the dedicated team at the Yolo County Central Landfill (YCCL) has few opportunities to recognize holidays due to the essential nature of their work. YCCL operates almost year-round, closing only six days annually, to provide crucial recycling, disposal, and hazardous waste services to the community. However, YCCL does close each year in observance of Independence Day, so that staff has time to celebrate with their families.
Yolo County Fourth of July Heatwave
With the Fourth of July around the corner, the U.S. National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued an excessive heat warning for Yolo County from Tuesday morning July 2nd, through Sunday evening, July 7th. Yolo County is encouraging residents to exercise caution and take steps to remaining safe and cool during this heat wave with potential impacts to people, pets, and livestock due to heat-related illnesses.
