Supports available for migrant workers' families during peak harvest in OR
A program in the Columbia River Gorge helps migrant farmworkers' families during harvest season. The Resources Available for Migrant Access to Services group is led by the Oregon Child Development Coalition in Hood River and Wasco Counties. It provides support during a four-week period of peak harvest time, including food boxes to families.
Eugene Police Department hosts summer barbecue for St. Vincent de Paul clients and staff
EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene police officers and staff served up a summer barbecue at St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County’s Lindholm Center on Highway 99 on Friday afternoon to about 250 people in need and the St. Vinnie’s staff who support them, said the Eugene Police Department.
ROSEBURG POLICE CITE MAN FOR PROHIBITED CAMPING
Roseburg Police cited a man for prohibited camping on Wednesday. An RPD report said at 9:00 a.m. the 53-year-old was contacted in the interior nature area of the duck pond in the 1000 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. The man reportedly had a large camp set up 10 feet from the edge of Newton Creek. He had been warned numerous times that camping is not allowed in the duck pond area. The man was released after the citation was issued.
Couple left to rebuild after Central Point Grant Fire
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. - The Grant Fire that erupted Tuesday afternoon leaves Quade Norush and his wife with nothing. Multiple agencies responded to Grant Road in Central Point and the fire prompted Level 2 evacuations. Quade told NewsWatch 12 on a phone call that his wife was hospitalized last week due to E. Coli poisoning after eating contaminated sushi at a local restaurant.
Tillamook Safeway included on list of stores to be sold

Riddle native Drake George selected by Giants in 13th round of MLB Draft
Riddle High School graduate Drake George was selected 388th overall in the 13th round by the San Francisco Giants on the final day of the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday. George spent the past three seasons at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. The junior led the Warriors with 13 starts last spring and finished the season with a 6-2 record. George, who went by Drake Borschowa while at Riddle High School, had a 4.91 ERA with 74 strikeouts and 21 walks in 66 innings. He was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference co-Pitcher of the Year.
5 FIRE STARTS CONFIRMED IN THE DOUGLAS DISTRICT
5 fire starts have been confirmed in the Douglas District following late afternoon lightning storms on Tuesday. A release from the Douglas Forest Protective Association said the storms swept across the district at around 5:00 p.m. Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said strikes were recorded from Glendale to Elkton on the west side of the district and from Tiller to the north of Glide on the east side. Pope said DFPA immediately initiated aerial and ground lightning reconnaissance.
