On Saturday night, Angel Illescas of Philipsburg, New Jersey, took a wrong turn that resulted in a series of collisions on South Broadway near Caryl Avenue in Yonkers. The 21-year-old's reckless actions not only damaged five vehicles, including his own, but also led to a utility pole being struck. This caused significant electronic damage, including to a YPD camera. Fortunately, amidst the chaos, only minor injuries were reported.

Yonkers Police Officers responding to the scene swiftly detected signs of intoxication in Illescas. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests confirmed their suspicions, leading to his immediate arrest. Subsequent chemical testing revealed Illescas was nearly three times over the legal limit. He now faces charges of Aggravated DWI.

The incident, while causing a major traffic delay, serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving. Yonkers authorities emphasize that such reckless behavior will not be tolerated. They promise that those found driving under the influence will face severe consequences, including incarceration.

We're all lucky that someone wasn't seriously injured during this incident ,” remarked a Yonkers Police Department spokesperson. “ This is a stark reminder that drinking and driving do not mix- doing so in Yonkers will land you behind bars .”

The court released Angel Illescas on bail with an appearance ticket and he awaits his court date.
