Authorities are in the midst of a harrowing investigation following the discovery of severed body parts strewn across Long Island. On Tuesday, Suffolk County police announced the discovery of the male and female victims who shared an address located in Yonkers.

The initial discovery occurred on Feb. 29 at Southards Pond Park in Babylon, NY. A young girl walking to school with her friends first saw one of the severed limbs. She told her father who then called 911. The police search uncovered two heads, a right arm, left leg from the knee down, and a right upper leg of the female victim.

    Possible arrests made

A late-night raid on Monday at a residence on Railroad Avenue in Amityville resulted in the arrest of four individuals. No human remains were uncovered at the Amityville residence. Furthermore, there are conflicting reports as to whether these arrests are related to the dismembered corpses. Nonetheless, a search the next morning led authorities to a different site.

On Tuesday, March 5, police discovered additional dismembered limbs from both victims concealed in Bethpage State Park and a wooded area in West Babylon. Police emphasized that none of the remains appeared to have been in the park for an extended period. This suggests the murders and dismemberments happened recently.

Authorities have yet to publicly identify the victims, maintaining that the investigation is ongoing. However, they report the female victim’s age as 59-years-old, while the male victim’s age as 53-years-old.

A potential motive behind the gruesome killings remains undisclosed by the police. Although, sources tell the NY Post they believe the crimes could be connected to a love triangle.

Authorities assure the public that the incident appears to be isolated, with no immediate threat to safety. Nevertheless, the chilling nature of the crimes leaves many anxiously awaiting further developments in this unfolding story.
