Cue the training montage. The Yonkers Marathon, the second-oldest marathon in the country, returns on September 15 for its 97th year.

Thousands of local and visiting running enthusiasts have been challenged by the steep hills of the two 13.1-mile routes for nearly a century. The race was founded in 1907, predating the New York City Marathon by 63 years.
