York County Council members get death threats regarding Silfab Solar in Fort Mill
The ongoing saga regarding Silfab Solar, Fort Mill Residents and York County Council has now gotten personal. York County Council Chair Christi Cox said at Monday’s meeting she has gotten letters that are threatening her and her families. Cox says the letter was mailed to her house. Another council member, William “Bump” Roddey says he also got one and opened it there at council and said it threatened both him, and his family. Some residents have been very vocal on their disdain and in opposition of a solar manufacturer Silfab Solar coming to Logistics Lane. They have voiced this saying they are against what they call environmental concerns and being in close proximity to schools. The $150 million dollar plan for 800 new jobs has the go ahead from York County per a release last month. Cox said this letter was based on “rampant lies, fear mongering, anger and hate” and has put the “political discourse at an all time low.” She also said “Words have power.” Neither council member talked about the stance of the County on Silfab.
