Dover Area School District Superintendent Kelly Cartwright said is ready to move on to the next chapter of her life in a letter to school board members announcing her retirement.

Since May 1, 2021, Cartwright has led the school district in a role that she described as fulfilling her "ultimate professional goal."

"As a result of the opportunity to serve in this position and the experiences that inherently come with the role, I have grown both personally and professionally in ways I could have never imagined," the letter read.

Cartwright anticipates retiring on or about Aug. 9, 2024, and she expressed in the letter her desire to assist the district and board in the hiring, transition and onboarding of a new superintendent.

"I wish the Dover Area School District the very best, as the very best is what its students and staff deserve," the letter read.

Cartwright declined to comment further on her retirement.
