Despite the holiday weekend, there's quite a bit going on in York County and beyond.

All-you-can-eat grilled meats at Mesa Moreira
This Sunday starting at 5 p.m., downtown York's authentic Portuguese restaurant is hosting Rodízio night , essentially an all-you-can-eat style restaurant service, popular in Brazilian steakhouses.
Tickets for this must-try event are $80 per person, which includes gratuity, four courses and a non-alcoholic beverage:
- Starters: soup, tossed salad and Brazillian cheese balls
- Meats: Picanha, pork ribs, bacon wrapped chicken, shell steak, drumsticks, pork loin, linguica, beef ribs
- Sides: rice, fries, sautéed collard greens, bread & olives
- Dessert: grilled pineapple
- Non-alcoholic beverages: soda, iced tea, water, juice

Mesa Moreira is also hosting a gift-card drive
"Our family has been working tirelessly to bring our beloved Portuguese restaurant, Mesa Moreira, to life in downtown York. We've spent countless hours learning the ropes, pouring our hearts and souls into every aspect of the business. But, despite our best efforts, the past year has been a challenging one," said co-owner Christie Moreira.
Rising costs, building renovations and equipment expenses have prompted the family behind the business to establish a gift card drive. Gift Cards can be purchased in person or online , with $500 Gift Cards, priced at $325.

Oyster Festival
Hosted by AleCraft Brewery in Railroad and Thiess Shucking Service , the Oyster Festival this Saturday at 14 South Main Street, New Freedom, will feature raw oysters from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., as well as oyster shooters and more seafood options and live music entertainment.
Limoncello-making class
Enjoy one of the final events hosted by McAllister's on York in downtown Hanover before their closure.
This Saturday, at 10 a.m., learn to make the popular Italian lemon liqueur using co-owner Robert's recipe that he brought back from a vineyard owner in Taormina, Sicily. The 90-day process makes this a great gift for loved ones this holiday season.

Hanover chili cook-off
A staple for the Hanover community and beyond, the chili-lover's event will feature a cornhole tournament, food and drink vendors, a pepper eating contest, dunk tank and tons of chili to sample.
The event will take place on Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 151 Moul Ave., Hanover. Tickets are $10 if purchased online and $12 at the gate.
Glass-blowing class for beginners
Interested in making your very own shot glass, beer sampler or vase? Try your hand at glass blowing this weekend at Something Wicked Brewery in Hanover.
The class will be taught by master glass blower Michael Peluso, who brings 25 years of glass experience to Hanover.

York's annual Labor Day celebration
The City of York's Annual Labor Day celebration will feature TikTok Dance Challenges, fireworks, food, vendors and more.
The event will take place on Monday, Sept. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kiwanis Lake with live music and performances, food vendors, merchandise vendors, community resource vendors, a Kidz Zone hosted by Atomic Bounce, and the fireworks display finale.
Kipona Festival
The City of Harrisburg is hosting its 108th annual Kipona Festival this weekend from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The 3-day event will feature a family fun zone, multicultural celebration, Native American Pow-Wow, live music, art, food trucks, beer and wine garden, a Giant Puppet Parade, Keystone Dock Dogs competition and more.
