Dallastown hasn't felt this good in a long, long time.

Eight years, for a fact. 2016 was the last season in which the Wildcats won their first three games. On Friday, they finally matched that start. The Wildcats overpowered Manheim Central 35-0 for their third straight win and second shutout victory of the season.

"We won all three phases of the game tonight, and it was great to see our team put it together," Dallastown coach Levi Murphy said. " After the last two weeks, we've had some stuff to clean up. So I'm proud that we put it all together tonight."

Dallastown's every facet of play stumped Manheim Central. It snatched the lead on its first drive after Kody Kissner connected with Jalen Cook on a 78-yard touchdown pass. Cook would score twice more by the end of the night and ended with 205 receiving yards on just four catches. He added an interception as well and forced a fumble on Manheim Central's offense just for good measure.

Jack Mahoney added on a sack. Michael Scott scored from 38 yards out after his previous touchdown run was called back. Antonio Bordonada scooped and scored after Cook forced a fumble on the first play of a Manheim Central drive.

The Barons reached the red zone once − late in the second quarter. Darius Williams broke up their only potential scoring play after swatting down a pass in the corner of the end zone. After that, the Barons played on shaky ground. The Wildcats shook them up and kept them off-kilter all through the second half.

"Those are tough, hard-nosed kids," Murphy said. "And I'm glad our kids rose to the level of their training tonight. Our kids are doing a lot of good things. Good things happen when you get good kids in good positions."

New Oxford 48, South Western 20: Senior Clayton Nieves had the game of his life. He scored four touchdowns and finished with more than 250 yards on the ground. But he was quick to say he didn’t do it by himself.

“It starts up front,” Nieves said. “Those big boys were doing their thing tonight. It makes it really easy when I can just follow them and use my speed.”

Coach Jason Warner agreed, saying that his offensive line handled everything that South Western threw at them.

“The offensive line picked everything up,” Warner said. “And [Nieves’] vision was great, seeing where the creases were. We’re proud of him and proud of all of our guys for overcoming some of that adversity.”

That adversity came late in the second quarter, when starting quarterback Luke Frey was pulled after dislocating the shoulder on his non-throwing arm. The Colonials were leading 20-6 at that point on the strength of three Nieves touchdowns, including one for 47 yards.

Carter Houck replaced Frey and gave the Colonials a different look at quarterback.

“Carter doesn’t get the reps during practice that Luke does,” Warner said. “He’s mainly a running quarterback for us, not that he can’t pass. He exhibited that tonight, he just missed a couple times.”

Logan Klinedinst put the Mustangs on the board late in the first half on a 6-yard run, but it was in the second half when the offenses really exploded.

Nieves went well over the 200-yard mark on a 67-yard run for a touchdown early in the third quarter, but that wasn’t the longest scoring play of the game. That honor goes to South Western’s Brooklyn Calcutt, who returned the kickoff 85 yards to the house after Brayden Billman scored on a 67-yard scamper.

Billman added a second touchdown a short time later when he picked off Bryce Graham and went 20 yards to give the Colonials a 41-13 lead to close the third quarter.

After New Oxford’s defense forced a punt on South Western’s first possession of the fourth quarter, Brody Holmes returned the kick 35 yards for the Colonials’ final score. Austin Rollman gave the Mustangs one more score on a 9-yard run late in the fourth.

“We have a lot of respect for South Western,” Warner said. “It’s a rivalry game, but we are 7-24 against South Western all time, 3-3 in the last six meetings. They see this as a rivalry because of the locale. The guys from both schools lift together in the same gyms and do all the same stuff, run in the same circles, so it’s always rewarding.”

    Week 3 YAIAA scores

Biglerville 34, Northeastern 21: After the Bobcats pulled out to a 14-7 lead, the Canners responded with 20 unanswered points to take the lead in the third quarter. Northeastern put up its final touchdown of the night on a 43-yard run, and the Canners scored their final touchdown on a 33-yard pass.

Littlestown 27, Annville-Cleona 21: Logan Conaway scored the Thunderbolts' first two touchdowns of the night, with a run by Brody Bittle adding to a 21-14 lead come halftime. Annville-Cleona tied the game with less than seven minutes remaining, but Lucas Bacher scored on a short pass to lift Littlestown to a win.

Bermudian Springs 21, Susquehannock 14: Eddie Sebright scored two touchdowns for the Eagles on a 4-yard run and a 44-yard pass from Lane Hubbard, both in the fourth quarter. Colby Watkins scored the Eagles' other touchdown of the night, while Josh Pecunes scored both touchdowns for the Warriors.

Delone Catholic 22, Northern Lebanon 21: The Squires took the lead on a rushing touchdown in the second quarter while holding the Vikings to field goals on their first three scoring drives. Braden Smith scored and completed a 2-point conversion to tie the game 15-15 and followed up with a second score to hand the Squires their second win of the year.

Central York 31, Delaware Valley 20: The Panthers rebounded from a loss in Week 2 by topping the Warriors on the road.

Eastern York 49, Hanover 0: The Golden Knights took a 35-0 lead before the half and never let off the pedal. They handed the Nighthawks their third consecutive loss and earned their second shutout win of the year.

Manheim Township 42, York High 0: The Bearcats took their third loss of the year on the chin after being shutout by the Blue Streaks at home.

Red Lion 38, York Suburban 14: The Lions tacked on their first win of the year while dealing the Trojans their third loss to start the year. Mason Hollingshead passed for 66 yards and two touchdowns, while Zyaire Selby scored on both passes. For the Trojans, Taza Sweeney and Jovonny Ward scored on 11-yard and 23-yard runs, respectively.

Spring Grove 57, Kennard-Dale 0: The Rockets shut down the Rams' hot start to the season and picked up their second win of the year. After holding on to a seven-point lead in the first quarter, the Rockets exploded for 30 points over the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach.

West York 28, Donegal 16: The Bulldogs kept their winning streak alive in impressive fashion. By the time the first half ended, they had shut Donegal out entirely and scored three touchdowns along the way. Issac Roberts completed touchdown passes to Janziel Torres, Jayden Welch and Conrad Beatty in the first half while passing for 173 yards in that span.

York Tech 20, Columbia 19: The Spartans, two weeks removed from a two-point loss to James Buchanan, bounced back to a winning record after squeezing out a two-point win over the Crimson Tide. Serge McGill scored every single touchdown for the Spartans, pushing them into a one-possession lead before Columbia scored late and failed a 2-point conversion.

Conestoga Valley 33, Dover 6: The Eagles dropped their second game after giving up 19 points in the second half and being shut out until after halftime.
