    Piscataqua Garden Club announces grants, programming

    York, ME – The Piscataqua Garden Club announces requests for proposals for its community grants program. These grants are awarded to non-profit organizations for projects in Southeastern Maine and New Hampshire with funding usually ranging from $500 to $3,000.

    The projects will be evaluated in meeting the following criteria:

    1. Enhance and conserve the natural environment of the area.

    2. Improve the landscape and built environment of our communities, both historic and new, through education and action.

    Application forms are available online at https://piscataquagardenclub.org upon request from a Piscataqua Garden Club member, or via U.S. Mail from the Grants and Scholarships Chair using the address below.

    Completed applications must be returned by Aug. 1 to: PGC Grants and Scholarships Chair, P.O. Box 363, York Harbor, ME 03911.

    All applicants will be notified in mid-September.

    The Piscataqua Garden Club (PGC), a member of the Garden Club of America, was founded in 1926. Members come from the Seacoast Region from Wells, Maine through Hampton, New Hampshire. PGC promoted knowledge and love of gardening, and floral design. It works to protect, restore, and improve the quality of the environmentthrough study, programs and action regarding conservation, civic improvement and preservation.

    Piscataqua Garden Club to host 'Wear No Evil' panel discussion July 18

    The Piscataqua Garden Club is hosting a panel discussion on waste and lack of sustainability in the fast fashion clothing industry. The discussion will feature Jennifer Moore, founder and co-creator of Project Upcycle, a sustainable fashion competition featuring designers from all over New England. The event, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on July 18 at the York Harbor Reading Room, is open to the public.
