(WHTM) — It’s more than 150 years old, but some new things are happening at what started out as a local orphanage.

The Children’s Home of York opened in 1865 – as the Civil War was ending – but now it’s a broad social-service organization for children and families.

Children’s Home just added new local leaders to its board, and they are giving an idea of what is next to come.

“One of the gaps that we’ve identified is that individuals are struggling to find outpatient mental health services after they leave, or for our children, who are in foster care, or there’s a delay in them receiving services,” President and CEO of Children’s Home of York Rob Bunce said. “So we’re hoping to that’s one direction that we’re hoping to move into.”

Bunce said outpatient services in general will likely become more of a priority.
